At the time of the 1880 federal census, Joseph was 4 years old and living with his parents and
three siblings on the family farm in St. George, Benton County, MN. His parents stated that
he and his sister Matilda were born in Minnesota, but they and his brothers Paul and Thomas

At the time of the July 2, 1895 Minnesota state census, Joseph was 19 years old and living with his parents and his five siblings in St. George Twp., Benton Co., MN. His father and two older brothers, Paul and Thomas, were working on the family farm. Joseph said he had been living in St. George Twp. all his life. At the time of the April 27, 1910 federal census, Joseph was 32 years old and living with his wife Anna, their three children, and his brother Albert on a farm in St. George Twp., Benton Co., MN. Both Joseph and Albert were working as farmers. Joseph stated he was born in Minnesota of Polish German parents; he could read and write English. He and Anna had been married for 6 years. |
