Duelm, Benton Co. MN, 2 Dec. 1880
Dear Brothers and Sister-in-Law, I received your letter and was glad to read that you
are all still in good health, as we are too. Our family grew by one early Sunday morning,
Nov. 21st, 1880. A little girl that was given the name Bertha Elisabeth. My sister-in-law
and Heinrich Kuedde are the godparents. Kuedde lives only 4 miles from me. Because of business
reasons, I have no time to write more today, but I will be in contact with you again soon and send you
a picture of myself, my wife and little Wilhelm, that we had done last Summer. Send me some
Duelmener newspapers, please, and I will send you some newspapers from here.
We wish you all happy holidays. This year we threshed
about 900 bushels of wheat. Going by weight, it should not be much less than 1000. One bushel
now costs $90.00.
Many greetings to all our relatives and friends,
C. A. Hunck
