"Mrs. Otto (Cora Elizabeth) Balder,
61, Hillman, died Monday after suffering a stroke at her home. A native of Sherburne county, she
had lived at Foley before coming to the Hillman vicinity.
"Surviving her are her husband,
two sons, Charles, Onamia, and Raymond, Minneapolis; four daughters, Mrs. Carl Marohn
(Norma), and Mrs. Glen Look (Grace), Brainerd; Mrs. W. W. Pfielsticker
(Myrtle), Wabasha and Mrs. Victor Vogtlin (Edith), Hillman. Brothers and sisters are
Leon and William Scherberg, Foley; Mrs. Arnold Schaeffer, Winona; Mrs. Ella Smuts,
Minneapolis and Mrs. Ray Rodine, Los Angeles. There are 20 grandchildren.
"Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m.
in St. Rita's church, Hillman, the Rev. A. Lucking officiating, and burial will be in the
parish cemetery there. Friends may call after noon Wednesday in the Virnig Funeral home, Pierz. The
Christian Mothers will pray the rosary there at 8 p.m. Wednesday, and the parish rosary will
be repeated at 8 p.m. Thursday."
