Notes: At the time of the April 1, 1930 census, Bernice was 15 years old and living with her parents and three siblings in a
rented home in St. George Township, Benton, Minnesota. The family owned a radio. Her mom told the census enumerator that she was married when she was 20 and her husband was 23 years old. Bernice's father and 27-year-old elder brother Emil J. were working as farmers in general farming. None of the children were attending school with the exception of her 13-year-old brother, Ralph R.

As of Apr. 1, 1935, Bernice was living in Fargo, North Dakota.

At the time of the Apr. 6, 1940 U.S. Federal census, Bernice was 25 years old and lodging along with a relative, Frances Gebhardt, and the two Olsen brothers, with the Austin and Florence Mankey family at the Mankey's own home valued at $3,500 and located at 3637 Tenth in Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota. Mrs. Mankey indicated to the enumerator that although Frances was a beautician with her own beauty parlor working 48 hours the week of Mar. 24-30, 1940, for 52 weeks in 1939 and had income from other sources, Bernice was not yet employed at the time nor had she worked in the previous year to her knowledge. Both Bernice and Frances had completed their education through the 8th grade.

On Aug. 28, 1948 Bernice married Lewis Joseph "Joseph" Dingmann. He was 27 and she was 34 years old.

In the 1957 and 1958 Denver, Colorado City Directories, husband Joseph was listed as a Classifier at Rocky Mountain Arsenal. At that time the Dingmann family was living at 1774 South Elm in Denver.

The family moved to Kansas City, Kansas in November, 1960 when Joseph was working for the Federal Aviation Agency.

Joseph died in Washington, D.C. on Apr. 14, 1961, two weeks after his 40th birthday. He was buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado on Apr. 18, 1961.

Bernice and her family moved back to Denver the summer after Joseph's death as his sister Ann and some of Bernice's relatives lived in the area. The family settled at 1891 S. Forest Street.

Bernice married second Cecil Clyde Watkins on Sept. 1, 1967 when she was 53 and he was 54 years old.

When Cecil and Bernice married they moved around the corner on S. Filbert Court. Cecil has three children of his own and he and Bernice combined families when they married. In 1968 they bought a new house on 6934 E. Villanova Place where she lived until the time of her death on Nov. 10, 1995 at the age of 81.

After Bernice's death second husband Cecil remarried when he and his new bride were in their 80s, and he still lives in Denver at age 99 as of summer 2012.
