Notes: At the time of the April 2, 1930 census, Joseph was 9 years old and living with his parents, sister Barbara A., and a
19-year-old boarder, Muriel Strand, in the family home which they rented for $30 a month in St. Cloud, Stearns, Minnesota. The family owned a radio. His father was working as a mail carrier for the U.S. government.

At the time of the Apr. 13, 1940 U.S. Federal census, Joseph was 19 years old and living with his parents and 14-year-old sister Barbara Ann in their own home valued at $6,000 in St. Cloud, Stearns, Minnesota. His mother told the census enumerator that they had been living in the same house as of Apr. 1, 1935. His father was employed as a district carrier at the U.S. Post Office, working for 40 hours the week of Mar. 24-30, 1940. He worked 52 weeks in 1939 and earned $1,950. His father had completed one year of college and his mother was a high school graduate. Both Joseph and his sister were attending school; he had completed one year of college and Barbara Ann had graduated from the 8th grade.

In the 1957 and 1958 Denver, Colorado City Directories, Joseph was listed as a Classifier at Rocky Mountain Arsenal. He and his family were living at 1774 South Elm in Denver.

The family moved to Kansas City, Kansas in November, 1960 when Joseph was working for the Federal Aviation Agency.

Joseph died in Washington, D.C. on Apr. 14, 1961 two weeks after his 40th birthday. He was buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado on Apr. 18, 1961.

Joseph's family moved back to Denver the summer after his death as his sister Ann and some of his wife's relatives lived in the area.
