The average daytime temperatures range from 78 degrees in the winter to 85 degrees
in the summer. Cooling tradewinds blow an average of 300 days per year. Moloka'i's
western half is dry, whereas the eastern end is subject to occasional heavy rain.
Boat trips along the north shore are often impossible in winter months (October through
March) because of high surf conditions. These are also the rainest months of the year,
although it can be raining on one part of the island and sunny on another.
The high seasons range from mid-December through Easter and early June through late
August, when families with children vacation. September until mid-December, and mid-April
until early June are the low season.
Moloka'i is serviced by interisland carriers Island Air and Hawaiian Airlines. There is
no public transportation on the island, but cars can be rented from any of several rental car
companies.
