Funeral services for Max Leonard Stimmler, 86, of Foley and formerly of Milaca, were held Monday, Feb. 14, 2005 at the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca with the Rev. Tom Sahlstrom officiating. Burial followed at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. Pallbearers included Michael Stimmler, Max Stimmler, Christopher Stimmler, Danny Morehouse, Mark Morehouse and Joshua Stimmler. Max died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005 at the Foley Nursing Center. He was born Feb. 14, 1918 in Clear Lake, Minn. to Max John and Hattie (Ebner) Stimmler. Max grew up and attended school in Clear Lake. He married Dora Fischer on July 1, 1941 in Minneapolis. They made their home in Elk River and Max farmed and worked at the Princeton Coop Creamery, the Elk River Feed Mill and also did carpentry work on the side. When they moved to Milaca in 1971, he worked at Smith Systems in Princeton. Max enjoyed fishing, farming, gardening and his pets. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Max is survived by his wife, Dora of Milaca; children, Maxine Spears of Walker, Minn., Julene and husband Everett Warren of Milaca, Leonard Stimmler of Cambridge, Max and wife Carol of Elk River and Darryl and wife Mary of Milaca; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; sister, Hattie Mae Engstrom of Eagan; and brother, Harvey Stimmler of Texas; also by many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Earl; sisters, Irene and a sister in infancy; daughter-in-law, Sharon Stimmler; and son-in-law, Jim Spears. |
