At the time of the January 20, 1920 census, Hugo was 4 years and 5 months old and living with his parents and two siblings in Maple Grove Township, Hennepin, Minnesota.
 
On April 9, 1930, Hugo was 15 years old and living with his mother Esther and two brothers at 3107 Logan, Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota. He was attending school at the time. His family owned a radio.
 
In 1941 Hugo was working as a maltster at Gluek Brewing Company, and he and Bernice were living at 4342 Irving Ave. N, Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota. By 1942 Hugo had enlisted in the U.S. Navy.

Hugo last lived in Port Saint Lucie, Saint Lucie, FL 34983. He died on April 4, 1998 at the age of 83.
